FAQ’s
What type of matches do you have?
We host a variety of matches nearly every weekend in IDPA and USPSA.
When are the matches?
We host a match nearly every Saturday and occasionally on Sundays hosted by Collin County IDPA (CCIDPA.org). You can find out more about our Match schedule by clicking the link above that will direct you to Practiscore.com or you can go directly to Practiscore.com and search for Matches and type the keyword in the search bar “Collin” and you’ll see the Schedule!
Are new shooters allowed?
Absolutely! Our Matches cater to all levels of skill. You’ll find that the culture at Mission 160 is welcoming, friendly, and we’re happy to answer any questions. Just bring your Gun, Ammo (150-200Rounds), 3-4 Magazines, Holster, Mag Pouches, as well as Eye and Ear Protection. And be sure to arrive early for a new shooter safety briefing.
What type of gear should I bring?
Most people that start out bring their Everyday Carry Gun! But here is a basic list of items required to shoot a match:
- Pistol: we have shooters that will shoot anything from a Sig P365 all the way up to a 1911/2011 in 45 ACP. There is typically a division for nearly every Pistol out there!
- Rifle – we do allow PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine). However, at this time we currently do not allow Rifle Caliber such as 223/556, 308, etc… due to regulations.
- Ammo – Bring Centerfire ammo made for your Gun. Most matches have round counts from 120 upwards of 200. We do have ammo available for purchase if needed!
- Magazines – Bring at least 3-4 Magazines for any Double Stack guns such as Glocks, 2011, etc… Single stack such as 1911 in 45 ACP should bring 4-5 Magazines.
- Holster – a Solid Retention type holster in Kydex. Avoid cost saving fabric/leather holster that do not have any true retention.
- Mag Pouches – You’ll want to be able to stow at least 2 mags on it. if you’re shooting Single Stack, minimum stow of 3.
- Eye and Ear Protection – bring Eye protection that is made for the Range or high-resistant. Ear Protection can be as basic as Ear Plugs or Electronic Ear Muffs. We have Eye and Ear Protection available for purchase!
- Dress Wear – close-toed shoes along with weather appropriate attire is a must.
Do you have multi-gun matches?
We do host the occasional 2 Gun Match with Pistol & PCC. We currently do not do any 3 Gun matches at this time. Check our Practiscore Schedule for upcoming Multigun Matches!
TRAINING
Our goal is to help you become more comfortable, capable and confident with your handgun or PCC. We work with you on an individual level, tailoring your session depending on your current skill and what you’re looking to improve.
Or maybe you’re looking to get involved with Competitive Shooting? Our Lead Instructor, Matt Smith, recently trained Range Owner Kevin Harding leading up to his 2023 World Championship win in IDPA. He can help you get started or improve your performance. Training for and shooting matches is also a great way to stay sharp and build skill – and they’re a lot of fun too.
No matter where your skill level is now, we can help you improve wherever you’re at. And you don’t have to be a member to attend a class.
